Vicki was the firstborn of Gerald Leon “Pete” Whited and Dorothy Regina “Dot” (Steinbacher) Whited's 10 children. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 20, 1949. Vicki graduated from Bishop Hogan High School and made her home in Kansas City for many years until she moved to Lee's Summit in 1977.
The Whited's, a close family, often gathered at “Grandpa Pete's" and "Grandma Dot’s” house for dinner on Sundays. Vicki especially enjoyed the babies, the laughter, and the retelling of childhood stories. She loved her siblings and acted as a second mother to her 7 younger brothers, whom she protected and nurtured.
A lover of children, Vicki was devoted to her daughters, Dana and Angie. She was always there for them when they were little and needed her, whether it was to put on a bandaid and dry their tears or to get down on the floor and play paper dolls with them. When they got older, she was their confidante and biggest fan as they played basketball, softball and volleyball. As adults, Vicki was so proud of her girls and often told them. When they had children of their own, she couldn't wait to rock her grandbabies and sing to them. Vicki considered Dana and Angie her greatest accomplishments. She loved them more than anything in the world.
On October 26th, 1985, Vicki married Marty Bridges and enjoyed their loving partnership for 38 years. Her love for her husband was so strong, she often commented she couldn't imagine life without him. Marty was always at her side, especially at the end, tending to her complex medical needs. His love and undying devotion for Vicki never faltered.
Vicki and Marty were able to build a vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks. She loved spending time there relaxing, boat riding, and especially having her children and grandchildren with her at the lake.
For 35 years at the IRS Vicki worked at many jobs beginning as a data entry clerk and retiring in 2004 as a computer network administrator. She was liked and respected by those with whom she worked, but her family and friends were most important to her. She would do anything for those she loved and never ended a call or conversation without saying, "I love you!"
Vicki adored all her pets especially Izzie and Chi Chi, who spent many hours comforting her on her lap. She treasured her family and the time she spent with them. Vicki's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them all from the very depths of her heart and soul.
Vicki was loved by so many family and friends and will be missed by one and all.
Vicki leaves behind her husband Marty Bridges, daughters Dana (Jeff )Yeagley, Angie (Jason) Pope, stepson Martin Bridges Jr (Sandra), and stepdaughter Kathy Jo Kepner. Her 21 grandchildren: Rebecca (Nick) Montavy, Carrie (Tim) McDaniel, Amanda (Joe) Langford, Sarah (Nick) Berardini, Kyle (Hayley) Yeagley, Kenzie Yeagley, Aubrey Yeagley, Kaycee Yeagley, Ryah Yeagley, Keegan Yeagley, Megan (Chris) Lamb, Tyler Pope, Jenna (Trevor) Phillips, Kylie Pope, Raven Bridges, Robyn Bridges, Parker Presley, Harley Reece, Ian Corbin, Dakota Barnett (Kelci), Wyatt Barnett.
Vicki also had 17 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Emmelia and James Montavy, Brensten, Landon, Maya, Alaina and Aspen McDaniel, Sophia Langford, Benny and Beau Berardini, Olivia Yeagley, Damon and Octavia Corbin, Skyden, Amarah and Ryder Reece. Vicki leaves sisters Kathy Whited, and Debbie Garr, brothers Dan Whited, Tim Whited, Kevin Whited, Gerry Whited, Joe Whited, Jeff Whited, and Phil Whited. She loved her many nieces and nephews and was honored to be godmother to two of them.
Visitation will be Friday, December 8th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. followed by services at noon and entombment immediately afterward at Mount Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home and Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Vicki's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
