Visitation will be Wednesday, March 21 from 12:30pm – 2:00pm with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
George was born January 9, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Southwest High School Class of 1939, then attended UMKC “formerly KC University”, the University of New Mexico and the University of Wisconsin before receiving his Architectural License. He was a proud World War II veteran serving at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base as a Staff Sergeant. He was the Flight Surgeon’s Assistant in the base hospital. There he met Frances “Frankie” Adams of Conway, SC who later became his wife. Following the war, the two moved back to Kansas City where he worked as an architect and later formed his own firm, Franklin, Frieze & Associates, which is now BRR Architecture, Inc.
George is survived by his daughter, Susie Ward and her husband, Mike of Kearney, Missouri. A grandson, Will Ward and his wife, Amy of St. Louis, Missouri. Also a nephew Tom Franklin of Pleasant Hope, Missouri. A niece, Nicki Frentrop of Blue Springs, Missouri, and several nephews in South Carolina. He was most excited about becoming a great grandfather this July.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Frances, his parents, George Benjamin and Lucy Franklin, his brother Tom Franklin, and his beloved cat, Dusty.
