George was born July 28, 1935 in Perry, Indiana. He was the son of Elbert Delbert and Clorene (King) Armstrong.
He grew up in Lebanon, Missouri and moved to Kansas City as a young boy with his parents. He started working for Milgrams Grocery at the age of 15. George served in the United States Army. He married Judith Smith in 1963. They met on a blind date at the bowling alley. George was athletic and played softball and football. He also enjoyed the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He left Milgrams on 63rd Street, when they were purchased by Costentino's and moved to McKevers Grocery until his retirement.
George is survived by his wife, Judy of 58 years, sons, Allan Armstrong and Andrew Armstrong, and one granddaughter, McKenzie Armstrong.
A funeral service for George will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
