Gary was born on March 21, 1940, to Dolly and Lloyd Talbot in Kansas City, MO. After high school, he joined the Marine Corp where he served until 1960. Gary was offered a job at Motorola shortly after his discharge and began an impressive career in machines and computers. In a world of discovering how things worked and even more importantly developing new technology, he had found his calling and never looked back. Gary held multiple positions with many prestigious companies including IBM. The more complex the problem, the greater the challenge, the more impressive the outcome. He will be forever hailed as a brilliant software design engineer.
Gary had a wonderful sense of humor and captivating smile. He was often described as mischievous in his younger years. Learning new things was a passion and he frequently developed unique inventions to improve his or his family’s everyday life. He could build or fix anything.
He loved spending time with his family and was always up for a friendly game of billiards, Rummikub, or chess. Gary moved back to Missouri to be near his family in the early 2000s but always cherished the warm air and sunshine of St. Petersburg, Florida where he lived for more than 10 years.
Gary is survived by his sister Sandra Reams and her husband Michael Reams of Kansas City, MO, daughter Dawn Zachman of St. Petersburg, FL, daughter Pamela Stone and her husband Gregory Stone of Melbourne Beach, FL, daughter Sudawn Bradley and her husband Kevin Bradley of Osawatomie, KS, stepson Howard Waldrop of Gravois Mills, MO, half-brother Robert Talbot of Neosho, MO, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Dolly G. Drake and her husband Albert F. Drake, his father Uri Lloyd Talbot, and his daughter Debra C. Talbot.
Gary’s quest for discovery will live on even after his death. He desired that when he passed on, his whole body be donated to science to help the next generation unlock even more mysteries of the human body.
