Gary Max Ritchie, 76, of Kansas City, MO, passed away July 12, 2014. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by 3:00 p.m. memorial services, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO, 64131. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to the ACLU, 125 Broad St., 18th Floor, New York, NY, 10004.
Gary was born August 24, 1937 in Dallas, TX, to Max & Delma Ritchie. After attending Arlington College & Baylor University Dental School, Gary became an endodontist in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Retiring as a Lt. Colonel with 26 years of service, Dr. Ritchie went on to teach endodontics at UMKC Dental School for 16 years. He was an active member of several dog clubs & their obedience training. Gary leaves behind his wife Fanny (Fil); sons Garth & Kevin; daughters Jennie, Leslie, and Gwenda as well as 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
