Gary was born on January 13, 1947 in Lebanon, MO. He was a loving and dedicated husband and a proud and devoted dad. Gary was retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) where he worked as a delivery and tractor trailer driver for 30 years. After retirement he devoted his time and attention to his family, especially his grandchildren. (Papa always kept them supplied with candy and ice cream!)
Gary was a devout Christian, and a man of great faith. He was well known for his honesty, his integrity, his kindness, his compassion, and his calm demeanor. He appreciated his family and friends. These key characteristics will leave a positive imprint on many lives. Gary’s always present smile will never be forgotten. Gary was a mechanic at heart. In his spare time he could be found in his garage with his son or friends visiting and working on cars. He was especially fond of the classic cars. Traveling with family or friends, whether by airplane, cruise ship, or road trip, was one of his favorite past times. His grandchildren provided some of his happiest moments. Spending time with his immediate and extended family was his greatest pleasure.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, 5 children, Melody Tull, Kelly Warner (Donnie), Kimberly Brown (Brian), Kasey Thompson (David), and Jeffrey Adkins (Amanda), 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He leaves behind many relatives and friends. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Leota Adkins and 2 brothers.
