Garrett Wilk Henson, Leawood, Kansas, passed away Wed., April 22nd, 2015. Garrett was the son of Gary Henson, Leawood, and Leigh Anne Johnson, Overland Park. Garrett had a short, but impactful life. Garrett had an innate quality of quickly touching people at their core, making friends of people of all ages and all walks of life. He had a quick wit and a quicker smile. One of Garrett’s long time-friends, summarized Garrett saying that “Garrett could make friends with a rock”.
He was a 2012 graduate of Bishop Miege High School and attended Colorado State University. Garrett was known for his love of music, his generosity, and was considered an “old soul” by everyone who met him.
Garrett was at home in nature, attending a semester at National Outdoor Leadership School. He was also an avid skier, climber, and hiker. Above all else, loved his dogs, Mickey, KC, Grace, & Myah. He will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of all the lives he touched.
Garrett is survived by his aforementioned father and mother, his step mother, Jessica Henson, and his step father Mike Johnson. Garrett adored his siblings, Katelyn & Cole Henson and Lily & Hannah Johnson. He is also survived by his grandparents Don & Alice Henson, Bill & Lela Sidwell, and Vicki Johnson.
The Henson’s/Johnson’s will have a private ceremony for family. To honor Garrett’s life, Gary Henson & Leigh Anne Johnson have set up the Garrett Wilk Henson Fund, through the National Christian Foundation.
