Fred William "Fred" Sharp, Jr., 92, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away June 4, 2013. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64105.
Fred was born April 6, 1921 in Miami, Oklahoma, son of Frederick William, Sr. and Gertrude E. (Littrell) Sharp. He graduated from Central High School. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 radio operator in the 94th Bomber Group, 333rd Squadron. He retired from Plumbers Union Local #8. Fred and his wife Cleo owned and operated the Sherman’s Cove Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks for 17 years until retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Cleo Sharp of the home; son Bruce W. Sharp of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; daughter Barbara Sharp Helsdon of Overland Park, Kansas; granddaughter Whitney Helsdon of Overland Park, Kansas; extended family and friends.
