Freda Hannah Strine Ogilvie passed away, Wednesday January 4th,2017, at the age of 98. She was born on December 17th ,1918 in the small town of Cameron, Missouri. She ended up moving to Kansas City with her family and that's where she happened to meet a certain persistent paperboy that eventually talked her into seeing a movie and six weeks later they were married and her mother insisted that the marriage would never last. They proved the woman wrong they married March 9th, 1936 and they were together a few days shy of 60 years. That paperboy was James Norman Ogilvie. Together they had 3 children, Kenneth, Eugene and Sharon. Freda had several jobs, she was a Jack of all Trades, she sewed in a Dress Shop, ran a fountain on the Plaza, was a natural at cake decorating. But her true passion was in her later years working with disabled children at the Delano School for Disabled Children. She loved it so much her husband begged her to retire so they could be at their beloved lake house more often, but she continued to work years after he retired. When she finally did retire they spent much of their time at the lake and having all the family down throughout the summer. That house was built by them and their Sons, it was their pride and joy and they made everyone welcome there. Freda had a great run and her mind was as sharp as a tack; her body, however, eventually couldn't keep up. She is with her husband now and their spirits are smiling down on that lake house awaiting all the next generation to fill it with laughter again. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Ogilvie and son Kenneth Ogilvie. She leaves behind her sister Fay, her son Eugene Ogilvie and daughter Sharon Prough. Along with her many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren that she enjoyed throughout her life. Freda had a full life, the beginning was rough and everyone who knows her knows about all the stories that she could tell about her life over and over again. They were her stories and she was proud of them and she should be, they were pretty amazing and that's how that tough German lady survived. Services will be held Monday January 9th, 2017 at Floral Hills in Raytown Missouri at 11am and a reception is to follow after at St. Regis Sent from my iPad
