She was born in Carrollton, Missouri on May 9, 1928 to Raymond Struck and his wife Leona Fergason Struck who preceded her in death. Her loving husband of fifty-three years, Winston Albert Nicholas, whom she married on August 6, 1949, preceded her in death on July 17, 2002.
Kathleen leaves behind sister Carolyn West of Lone Jack, Missouri. Sisters Margaret Ann Allen and Doris Hansel preceded her in death.
Thirty-two nieces and nephews loved her and called her, “Aunt Kay” cherishing her memory as a source of great fun. A niece Kristy Lynn Hansel and a nephew Douglas Scott Allen preceded her in death.
A natural leader, from an early age, she knew what she wanted and set about accomplishing those goals. Kathleen became a successful business woman working in the insurance and real estate fields in Kansas and Missouri serving as President of the Blue Goose Insurance Group as well as President of numerous Stock Clubs. She was a long time member of both Missouri & Kansas Real Estate Commission, Insurance Agents/Brokers Association and Real Estate Agents Association of Kansas & Missouri.
For many years she was a Committee Woman for the Republican Party in Leawood, Kansas, and a member of the Dwight Cowles Auxiliary of the American Legion. For the past fourteen years she has spent much of her time visiting nursing homes and ministering to friends as an Ombudsman for the State of Kansas. In the past, she served in that capacity at the Homestead Care Center in Leawood, Kansas. She was a past President of the KU Medical Center Women's Auxiliary serving as a volunteer until her passing.
She enjoyed travelling, good food, socializing, playing cards and going to movies and theater productions with friends. Her wonderful laugh and smile could enlighten a room.
An avid gardener, Kathleen won many gardening and horticulture awards in the greater Kansas City area through her membership in the Leawood Garden Club.
Visitation will be 12:00pm to 1:00pm followed by a 1:00pm Funeral Service on Friday, November 15 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Interment will follow at Faith Mausoleum, Mount Moriah Cemetery.
