F. Lucille Raeder (nee Martin) beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on August 10th, 2018 with her daughter Victoria at her side. She died as she lived, quietly, with grace and dignity.
Lucille was born on August 20th, 1927 in Pittsville, Missouri, daughter of Manard Martin and Lucy (Renick,) who preceded her in death. Her quiet strength and persistence were clear from her early life as she overcame several challenging lung ailments. Her first marriage resulted in a beloved daughter and an ability to be self-supporting. After some time in Los Angeles, Victoria and Lucille moved back to the Kansas City area where Lucille began work as a typist and bookkeeper and met the love of her life, John Raeder. John had a son, Jerry Raeder, and they merged their families and lived happily in Ruskin Heights for many years. John Raeder passed away in 1994, after which Lucille lived alone and then eventually with Victoria. She remained witty and thoughtful to her very last hours, and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Raeder, and his wife Pat, her daughter Victoria Gearke, her grandchildren: Robin Ganahl and husband Andrew, David Flannery and wife Alison, Marti Seibert, Natalie Beck, Nathan Gearke and wife Angelina, and her great-grandchildren: Alisa and Lauren Ganahl, Corwin and Gavin Flannery, and Tobias, Gwenyth, and Louis Gearke.
Visitation will be held at the Floral Hills funeral home from 1pm-2pm, with the Service to be held immediately after at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Public Television, one of the many causes Lucille supported and was dear to her heart.
