Etta Faye Vowells

Faye was born on March 9, 1930, the daughter of Tom and Carrie Medlock. She grew up on a farm in Salem, Missouri and was the 8th of 10 brothers and sisters - Dewey ‘Sis’, Austin ‘Sonny’, Shirley, Norman, Percy, Kermit, Lilly, Russel and Carol. She always spoke so highly of all her family, especially her mother, Carrie. She was an adoring aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

She worked at Sears for over 40 years. Faye met Joe at Sears. They were married in 1984, and were so lucky to have had each other, in good health for over 36 years.

Faye became a beloved second mother to his children, Kathleen, Patty, Mary Jo, and John, and grandmother to five, and great grandmother to seven.

Faye had a loving, generous heart, and a quick, feisty wit. She was fiercely independent and had a wonderful outlook on life, accepting what came, “just going with the flow”. She was a blessing to our family, treating us as if we were her own, and she will be dearly missed.

In the last years of her life, Faye resided at Park Meadows Memory Care. Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all her caregivers and staff for your love and compassionate care.
