Ethel Rodriguez is survived by the countless single mothers, homeless, and dis-enfranchized who may or may not know her name. The world is better for her having been here. The outpouring of support for Ethel is a testament to a life filled with sacrifice and giving.
Though she spent her early life training horses and working in some of the most preeminent restaurants in the metro, the most impactful portion came after. Ethel devoted herself to humanity. Dedicating the last fifty years of her life to volunteering at Our Lady of Good Counsel and Redemptorist, respectively.
To strangers, Ethel came across as a sweet, elderly lady. To those, who were privileged to know her, a passionate, sometimes intimidating 4’11 monolith. So many are easily folded into background characters. It is astonishing that Ethel was able to maintain the spotlight for 99 years. All who knew her will agree, that she is indeed, gone far too soon.
Visitation will be 8:30 – 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help-Redemptorist Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway Blvd., Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Cindy wanted everyone to know, Ethel lived through 17 presidencies.
