Esther was born on February 15, 1927 in Kessab, Syria to parents Garabed and Margarite Hatutian who were refugees in Syria after fleeing the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
Esther was a loving sister to Mary and Alice, and brother Zaven. After Zaven came to the United States in 1956 to finish college, marry and settle in Kansas City, Esther and sister Mary immigrated to Kansas City on November 11, 1966, following her parents who had immigrated 3 years earlier. On March 30, 1972 Esther became a naturalized US Citizen, which she was very much proud of.
Esther was a dedicated seamstress for Harzfelds and Halls on the plaza for over 25 years, retiring in 1992.
Esther was a spirit-filled, loving lady, never marrying, devoted to her parents, sisters, family and church. She was always a part of family gatherings, vacations and camping trips to the National Parks.
Esther greatly missed her older sister Mary who preceded her in death on February 13 this year.
Esther was a member of Summit View Church of the Nazarene and the Armenian Church of Kansas City.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leawood, where Esther lived the past 3 years. She loved the friends and staff at Sunrise who all gave her great care and support.
