Esfir was born on Thursday, July, 10 1930 in Novozybkov, Russia. She was the daughter of Isaac Azbel and Dvosia Yakubovich.
Esfir grew up in Novozybkov, Russia and went to Saint Petersburg to study medicine. She graduated and became a Medical Doctor. She practiced medicine from the ages 25 to 59 in Russia. On August 13th,1955 she married Solomon Azbel and together they were married for 55 years. She helped to raise a family of two children with Solomon till he passed away on January 23, 2011. She moved to the United States of America on April 22, 1993, as a refuge to join her daughter who moved in 1990. She helped to raise her grandchildren while her daughter was in dental school and son was working. She loved crocheting, sewing, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed taking long walks around the park with her poodle. She baked cakes for each of her children and grandchildren's birthdays.
She was preceded in death by her husband Solomon, and her favorite poodle Yana.
She is survived by her two children, Mikhail Azbel and Diana Tabakh; her 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and many more family and friends.

A graveside service for Esfir will be held Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131.
