Elsie and several of her friends were bowling one evening when a random guy told them that two young sailors were hoping to join them in the game. Elsie’s first question was “are they cute?” I guess they were cute enough…………..one of them was Louis Johnson who Elsie married in 1945. Together they had three children and shared 72 years of marriage until Louis’s death in 2017.
Elsie had the rare talent of listening. You could tell her your problems and she would listen carefully and then respond with something that automatically made you feel better. She loved to laugh and was positive and upbeat. We thought we had the coolest Mom in the neighborhood….I mean who else’s mom made their breakfast and packed their school lunches while dancing to WHB every morning.
Elsie celebrated her 102nd birthday on March 1st. She passed away on October 3rd. She was preceded in death by her son Johnny, aka Lou and her husband, Louis.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Leonard, her son and daughter-in-law, Chuckie and Stacey, daughters-in-law, Debbie and Barb, and grandchildren, Lara, Kaley, Hilary, Ashley, Cody and Collin, and great-grandchildren Hazel, Georgia, Louie, Frankie, Ridley, Wyatt, Theo, Lachlan and Dillon.
We’ll miss you lovely lady.
