The good Lord broke the mold when Betty was born. She was truly one of a kind. Her kind heart and spunk affected so many people   It was an honor to work with her and to be a small part of her life.

I am heartbroken to hear about Betty. She was a wonderful lady and friend. I worked with her for many years. I will never forget when I picked her up to go to the First Friday's in my Mustang convertible. We had a a blast that night and other times. God bless all her family and friends. She will be missed by many.

Betty was one of the greats.  We will all miss her!

She always like the way I color coded my expense reports. She was a class act all the way!

Miss Betty always made me feel welcome when I visited the Overland Park office. She was a beautiful spirit and will be greatly missed.

Betty loved the ties I wear to work. She would make comments about the ones she liked.   In the mornings I would always wonder if she would like this tie today!

I remember training in Kansas City and listening to a recordingjust to see how the job was done.   I was placed in a cubical near Betty.  I was traveling without earbuds.  I put the volume on low on my computer, as to not disturb those around me.  I approached Betty and told her I would  be listening and made apologies for the noise. She said Oh, don't worry, I turn down my hearing aids at work, so I can concentrate.  You won't bother me. She chuckled.

She will be missed!

Betty was always so thoughtful to ask if everyone was doing okay, and she always made a point to ask about my son and how he was doing in school and sports.  One conversation quickly turned to baseball and she sheepishly revealed how she loved having a nice cold beer on a warm day or evening while watching baseball at the K!  She giggled about that as she made her way back to her desk.

Betty always spoke her mind. When I became very noticeably pregnant with my son she kept asking Are you sure you aren't having twins? Sigh. I miss our little chats. What a wonderfully interesting, full of life lady she was. 
I'll cherish the little crocheted washcloths she made for me for my birthday. They're on my desk as decorative doilies. I'll think of her fondly whenever I look at them.

I was always so appreciative of the fact that Betty remembered our Birthdays and left a little something special on our desk. I still have my handmade washcloths that she gave me several years ago! I also remember how concerned she used to be about how busy we were and would always ask what she could do to help us. Betty was a one of kind of lady who I will never forget.

The first time I met Betty was when I joined the Communications team 10 years ago at JPMorgan.  Initially, I didn't have a lot of interaction with her due to my role on the team.  When I was told of Betty's age, I was blown away.  As time went on, Betty eventually reported to me until her retirement a year ago.  A few words I would use to describe Betty are spitfire and spunky.  I remember her 90th birthday party we held for her at the office.  She was completely surprised and so appreciative.  She was appreciative of all the things we did for her throughout the years and always thought we made too much of a fuss.  Betty was the same age as my grandparents.  I was amazed daily with her ability to adapt to the technology that we use in corporate America.  My grandparents had challenges with their cell phones.  If there was something that Betty didn't know how to do, she asked around and found someone to train her and she would take that task over for the department.  Betty and I had about the same tenure at the company.  When we transitioned from JPMorgan employees to Great West employees a few years ago, vacation time was different for employees with less time at the organization.  Betty cared deeply for ALL her coworkers and due to this, she was extremely upset with the new vacation policy and she let me know!!!  I walked by her desk and asked how she was doing and she let me know she was not pleased with the new policy and that I need to do something about it.  You always knew what Betty was thinking because she would tell you without hesitation.  We all loved this about Betty because she said what most of us were thinking 

Betty had a huge impact on everyone at work.  One person told me the other day she was the glue that held us all together.  Betty would do anything for you, her work ethic was second to none and since she retired, the office continues to talk about her and all the great memories that we have.  She also spoke often of her family and you can tell that family was tremendously important to her.  I may not be a blood relative, but Betty made me feel like I was part of her family and to me that was an enormous honor.  Betty will live in our hearts forever as our matriarch and will be missed by all!

What I remember most about Betty was how she always thought of others. When I first came to sit by her, she gave me two of the croqueted squares. She told me not to use them as potholders because they weren't potholders and she didn't want me to get burned. While she took care of all of us, she never wanted a fuss over herself, even at her retirement party she kept saying how nice it was but we shouldn't have gone to all the trouble. She was an amazing person.

Betty was one of the kindest people I have met. Even though I was only on the team for a short time before she retired, she was always more than willing to help in any way possible; she even offered to do my first expense report while I watched and learned (since she was a pro at them!). She was a beautiful person who will be greatly missed.

Betty was such a unique and inspiring woman, and I appreciated her positive attitude and commitment to working with all of us.  She truly took care of everyone, from making homemade gifts to organizing food days to ordering supplies.  She was so thoughtful and organized.  Her warm, friendly attitude improved our work environment, and she is so very missed!  My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends in this time of loss.

Elizabeth was amazing. I'm so grateful I got to work with her for almost 10 years. Her wit, wisdom and sass made the workplace so much more enjoyable. 

Elizabeth knitted a set of yellow and white dishcloths for my birthday that I still use. She even crocheted one of the special round scrubber balls (yarn on one half, tulle on the other), which made me feel exceptionally special, because no one else at work got one! I loved her gentle reminders to take vacation before we lost our hours - those typically started mid-year and ramped up toward fourth quarter. 

What a fantastic gal! I could go on and on about how wonderful Elizabeth was, but you already know, because you knew and loved her, too. Please accept my sympathies for your loss. I'll smile every time I think of her -- she was always smiling.

Such an amazing person.  I was a new hire at JPM and I began second guessing my decision about accepting the position.  Then on my 3rd day Betty came to work and I never looked back.  She took me under her wing, shared her knowledge and spirit.  She was so kind and patient at all times.  I worked with Betty for the next 11 years and she continuously inspired me.  I was so fortunate to have had her as a mentor and dear friend.  I'll miss her deeply but I will always remember her as a genuinely kind and caring lady.

I was Betty's housekeeper and I enjoyed and looked forward to our talks each time I went. She was so kind and full of memories. I will greatly miss her

Betty was such a wonderful person to work with. She was always kind and thinking of others. She always had a chuckle and could make you chuckle with her. Although she already had a big family, she made those around her feel like part of her family too.

I first met Betty in 1999 when I began managing the Production Services team.  She was always kind to me and those she worked with.  

Betty was also a wonderful inspiration for myself and others.  I was always amazed by her level of energy, uncanny ability to keep things organized and to assist the department with their admin needs.

She was a joy to be around and will be missed by many including myself.

What a wonderful woman! Kind, dedicated to her family, focused on others, a strong work ethic. I'm honored to have known Betty. Prayers for her family in your time of loss.

Betty was an inspiration to me and many who worked with her. We miss her!

My heart broke when I heard of Betty's passing. She was a kind hearted sole that was loved by all. I tell people "Betty" stories almost every week - how a snow storm or  ice storm couldn't stop her from coming into the office, how she would make gifts for people on their birthdays (we had a department of 70 people), how she would do battle with building maintenance when the heat wasn't working correctly in the winter. I'll miss Betty, but her stories will live on forever.

I started at American Century in 1999.  Betty supported our team and was 78 years old.  78!..And still working full time.  

Betty was amazing and truly inspired all of us.  I feel we all grew up under Betty.  She was so much more than a co-worker.  At the time we were all a bunch of "kids", but we could never complain about work because we had Betty to keep us grounded.

My sincere sympathies to the Swartwood family. I will never forget sweet Betty.

Betty was the best!  She was so inspiring for us other Admins here at Empower Retirement (JP Morgan).  She kept up with all of the latest technology changes that came about and sometimes she even helped me figure things out when we got the new expense reporting tool!  She was always friendly and genuinely concerned about others.  She was an awesome lady!

I'm so sad to hear about Betty's passing. My heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends. They don't make them like Betty anymore, she was one of the best people I ever knew. God speed Betty!

Even though I never worked in the same office as Betty, she had a huge impact on me. Betty was one of the nicest people in the KC office. She always made sure that I was taking my Vacation and taking time off of work. When I would visit she would always have a kind word and a smile Betty will be greatly missed.

I'm heartbroken, and send my condolences to Betty's family. She was one in a million, actually, one in a trillion. I miss her ferocity, loyalty and caring every day.

My deepest sympathies to the Swartwood family. Betty was an amazing woman who had such an air of calm, grace, dignity and love around her. I am better for having known her, and for calling her my friend. She will be missed.
