Elizabeth Gordon Noonan

Elizabeth (McMurry) Gordon Noonan, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 23rd at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, MO, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.

Elizabeth was born December 10, 1920 in Whitmire, South Carolina. She grew up in Memphis, TN. She played the violin in The Gordon Trio with her sisters, Anne and Jean. She was a librarian before marrying Edward Noonan on August 30, 1951. Edward’s job took them to Kansas City where Elizabeth focused on being a homemaker and loving mother. After Edward’s death in 1974, she pursued a career with the Epilepsy League and Greek Orthodox Church.

Elizabeth is survived by her two sons; Timothy (Mary) Noonan and David (Liz) Noonan; five grandchildren, Timothy (Liz) Noonan, Kathleen (Matt) Lenzenhuber, Justin (Jackie Ruvo) Noonan, Lauren (T.J.) O’Connor, Ashley (Kyle) Becker; and six great-grandchildren.
