She was the seventh child of Manuel and Beatrice Lewis Stepteau, born in Convent, Louisiana. Elizabeth relocated to Kansas City at the age of 16 alongside her elder sister Hilda Johnson. On July 2, 1955, she married Elmer Jordan, and they were blessed with four children, two daughters and two sons.
Elizabeth dedicated over thirty years to the Kansas City Missouri School District as an educator. Even after her retirement, she missed working with children and contributed to the after-school program for LINC.
Proverbs Chapter 31 characterizes a virtuous woman as one who leads her household with integrity, discipline, and love. Elizabeth will be remembered for her kindness, generosity to family and friends, and her deep devotion to God. She exemplified this through her love and selflessness towards others.
Elizabeth had various hobbies. She had a passion for cooking Creole cuisines. Sunday dinner was a staple in the household for her family. Saturday mornings were spent finding solace in her yard, caring for an array of beautiful flowers in her garden. Elizabeth also took pleasure in providing Avon products for family, friends, and coworkers, always ensuring she had what was needed.
Preceding Elizabeth in death were her parents: Manuel Sr. and Beatrice Lewis Stepteau; five brothers: Manuel Jr., Edward Sr., Robert, Ben, and Raymond; and three sisters: Hilda Stepteau Johnson, Marie Stepteau Malava, and Shirley Stepteau Howard.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Keven A. Jordan, Bryan E. Jordan, Marsha Jordan Brown (Warren), Shanita Isaac (Kenneth), all residing in Kansas City. She leaves behind five grandchildren: Kayla (Mario), Janae’ (Derrien) in Huntsville, Alabama, Darnell of Kansas City, MO, Jiamyiah of Waipahu, Hawaii, and Ricky in St. Louis, MO, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to cherish her memory.
A Visitation for Elizabeth will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. A Homegoing Celebration will follow at 12:00 PM. Entombment will occur at 1:00 PM in Mount Moriah Cemetery South, A repass will occur from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the funeral home.
