Elizabeth Ann Edwards

Elizabeth Ann Edwards, a long-time resident of Lake Winnebago, Mo, passed from this life to the next at the age of 89 on March 29, 2018 with her children by her side. Beth is preceded in death by her parents, Robert C and Marie May; children, Charles Eddie and Russel Kent; and love of her life, Russel Dean Edwards. She leaves behind a sister, Susan Wickizer, and nephews Mitch and Curtis Wickizer; daughter Joan Elizabeth Edwards Zimmerman and son-in-law, Rev. Paul Zimmerman; son, Randal Alan Edwards; daughter, Jana Dee Edwards Weaver and son-in-law, Dr. Dennis Weaver; grandchildren, Kirstin Klaus, Laura Zimmerman Kump, Natalie Edwards Young, and Stuart Edwards; and great great grandchildren, Hayden, Charli, and Carson Young, Riley Mitchem, Elizabeth Kump; and many wonderful and loving friends. Beth was born and grew up in Jamesport, Mo and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit and active in the Wall Streeter’s group at the lake. Beth loved dancing, was an avid golfer and bridge player. She completed daily cross word puzzles from the KC star to keep her mind sharp, enjoyed reading, always looked forward to Taco Tuesdays with her friends, Friday evening dinners at the Winnebago Yacht club, and a good martini. Beth was, indeed, the matriarch of her family where her home continued to be the central meeting place for all gatherings. She found great joy watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow, and this faithful, loving, and gracious woman was a constant source of courage and strength to both family and friends. She was greatly loved and we now look toward that time when we will see her again. Her Visitation and memorial service is scheduled for April 14, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Lee’s Summit, 114 South E. Douglas, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Rev. Paul F. Zimmerman will be officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her wonderful life.
