On Wednesday, March 28, 2018 Bette Beutler, wife, sister, friend, mother, extraordinary grandmother and great grandmother peacefully passed away at her home.
Bette was born in Kansas City in 1934 and made it her home all of her life. She was active in many organizations throughout her life volunteering at Spring Valley Elementary, Raytown South High School and Faith Presbyterian Church. Bette was a school nurse at Westridge Elementary for many years touching the lives and hearts of numerous children and families.
Though Bette was an active member of her community it was the love of her family that defined her life. Bette was married at the age of 18 for 62 years to her high school love Dick Beutler, who preceded her in death in 2015. Theirs was a beautiful love story to witness, committed, caring and always holding hands. Their hearts remained smitten with one another for 62 years. She looked at him as though she was falling in love for the first time, their entire life together. Their love was example of faith, devotion, sacrifice, affection and friendship. Caring for others filled all the days and years of her life. There was a sandwich and conversation ready at the table anytime someone walked through the door. Sunday dinners, holiday celebrations, birthday parties (always accompanied with her homemade heart shaped cake) were prepared with great detail and even greater love for all.
Being Mema to her 9 grandchildren is what brought her the greatest joy. She was exceptional; she attended events, met and loved their friends, gave advice, vacationed, laughed and unconditionally loved each of them. That love will live on in each of them and continue to touch and change the world.
Bette leaves her children Dan (Jo) Beutler, Steven (Susan) Beutler and Liz (Dan-deceased) Pruett, her adored and adoring grandchildren Brooke (Ben) Kulow, Blaire (Austin) Huffman, Alli (Jake) Droge, Daniel, Mary Kate and Megan Pruett, Curtis, Clayton and Claire Beutler and her precious great-grandchildren Beau, Knox and Brayden. Bette will also be remembered and missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations in memory of Bette have your family gather for Sunday dinner and enjoy family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mtmoriah.net for the Beutler family.
