Elaine always loved the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1941 she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. The late Rev. Bishop Roderick Caesar Sr. in Queens, NY baptized her at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle Church in 1957. She rejoiced in seeing all of her children accept Christ at an early age. She united with Calvary Baptist Church in NYC in 1977 and remained a faithful member until her homegoing.
She nurtured her three children and put them through college while holding two jobs. She expressed joy at seeing all three become the first generation to graduate from college.
She was a constant source of love and support to the entire family, especially to her mother, affectionately known as Gigi, who lived in a nursing home for thirteen years until her passing at the age of 108 in 2006 and to her daughter, Reuel who became totally disabled in 1974 from a brain aneurism until her passing in 2014. They were never alone thanks to her visits, constant faithfulness and prayers.
She enjoyed her final years living in the Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS. She loved the welcoming environment, which kept her healthy, active, blessed, and with an ever-present smile on her face.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip Thomas; daughter, Reuel Walrond; and sister, Gloria Hubbard. She leaves to rejoice her homegoing: her son, David P. Thomas (Anne) of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Donna Thomas of Brooklyn, NY; granddaughter: Meredyth Vick (Calvin) of Kansas City, KS; three grandsons: Steven Walrond (Debbie) of Kendall Park, NJ; Jason Walrond (Ronia) of Monroe, NJ; Christopher Thomas (Nia) of Overland Park, KS and four great grandchildren: Sydney Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Noah Thomas & Maya Walrond.
