Elaine was a loving wife of 48 years to her beloved Robert; mother to her two daughters, Karen and Tracey; grandmother to Mathew (Niki), Ryan (Ashley) and Ashley (Jason); and great-grandmother to Brayleigh, Colton and Emma who will dearly miss her.
Elaine was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 2, 1929 and raised in Queens, New York. In 1969 she and her family moved to Overland Park, Kansas. An avid Yankees fan, she took great pleasure in watching and cheering them on. She spent over 30 years doing what she loved – working with the students, families and teachers at Dorothy Moody Elementary School until she retired in 2005. She could not go anywhere in town without hearing someone call out “Mrs. Richmond!” She was known for her warm smile and kind words for everyone she encountered. She often opened her heart and her home to her friends and neighbors.
Visitation and funeral mass will be held at Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church, 9403 Mission Road, on February 11, 2023. Visitation will be from 11-12, followed by a funeral mass at 12. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed at www.cureofars.com/funeral. Graveside service will be held at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, KCMO, immediately after the mass.
