January 12, 1932 - April 17, 2024
Edil Edward LaMar Savage (aka Bud or Ed) was born January 12, 1932, in McPherson, Kansas, to Edward Thurber Savage, Jr., and Marie Leona Norine (Nelson) Savage. After graduating from McPherson High School in 1950, he moved to Lone Jack, Missouri, where he raised black angus cattle. While there, he married and had two children, Dale Edward and Gail Ann. The family moved to Lee's Summit in 1957, and he began a career as a paint estimator, though farming was his favorite job. While the first marriage did not last, he remained a caring father. On July 7, 1973, Ed married Mary Lou Rambo. When not working, he enjoyed reading about history and the old west, never losing his childhood interest in cowboys and indians. He also took up sailing and passed exams in piloting sailboats. Many peaceful hours were spent on the water at the tiller. After retiring, Bud took up wood carving, giving many of his pieces to friends and family. While a quiet, reserved person, he was known for his sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nora Lee Dodge; wife, Mary Lou; and his son, Dale Edward. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Lou Morris; children, Gail (Paul) Barham, Larry Joe (Jeanie) Rambo, and Jerry Dale (Rene) Rambo, as well as four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
