Maxine was born July 5, 1921 in Lock Springs, Missouri to Roy and Ina Alexander. She was the middle child of three growing up on a small family farm, graduating in 1939. In the mid 1940's Maxine moved to the Kansas City area taking a job as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Wards, JC Penney's in Chillicothe, and working for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
Maxine married Paul H. Brown on May 15, 1948 at the Kansas City, Missouri courthouse. They had two children Terry H. Brown and Sherry B. Palmer and raised them in the Independence area both graduating from Van Horn High School. Maxine was a proud member for many years of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Independence, MO.
After retirement, both Paul and Maxine enjoyed being season ticket holders for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Entertaining friends and neighbors during the holiday seasons was a favorite for Maxine, especially July 4th and New Years Eve. She enjoyed baking and was known for her German chocolate pound cake that she would bake for gatherings and special occasions. Maxine also loved music and especially loved playing the organ; but the highlight of Maxine's life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Paul of 58 years; her parents; brother, Neil (Gladys); and sister, Betty Lou Alexander.
She is survived by son, Terry Brown (Nancy) of Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Sherry Palmer (Doug) of Brookfield, Missouri; Grandchildren, Dan Brown (Lacy), and Mandy Montgomery all of Overland Park, Kansas; Aaron Palmer (Brittanie), and Adrienne Bowman all of Purdin, Missouri; 5 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Chance and Colby Brown, Declan Montgomery, and Adlyn Palmer.
