Doug, you've been my brother, not just my friend, since we were twelve. You still are, and I've missed you every day since we last parted. Now I'll miss you for as long as I have left in this world. 


Doug, you've been my and my family's very special friend since we moved to Maple Drive and your family was one street over.  For more than fifty years we shared happy phone calls and discussed books, music, and a love of the out-of-doors.  Little did I suspect that when we talked in late October that it would be our last discussion.  I hope you got to finish the book we last discussed, Fooled By Randomness.

Cousin/Uncle Doug, as my son and daughter fondly called him, will always remain a treasured Tracy family member.  Many great memories of shared times at our home and his.  Uniquely gifted, caring and a great laugh!

Uncle Doug, we love you and we'll always remember the great times talking with you, singing at your dinner table (with you playing a wonderful piano), going around Kansas City to your favorite restaurants, and just enjoying your company.  We miss you and love you so very much.  RIP.

His passion for conservation and nature was inspirational.  I enjoyed talking wetlands, birds, and of course Agroforestry.   His impact lives on.

I will miss a decade plus of sharing wonderful meals and conversations with Doug. I will miss having a friend who called me "kiddo." I'm grateful for the others who have become friends of mine thanks to Doug: Gene, Dusty, Shibu and Lynn. Rest in peace, Doug.

Now seems all the more appropriate to name the property at Laurie after the Osage Chief, Gra-mo'n (Arrow Going Home).  May you rest in peace.
