Dorothy was born in Huggins, MO on September 24, 1927. She married Joseph Rhodes on September 13, 1947, a World War II and Korea War veteran. They were married 50 years until Joseph's passing. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved to sew, knit, crochet and cross stitch. You would often find her visiting craft and antique shows with her daughter, visiting with neighbors or in her garden. She won many awards working in the children’s shoes department at the Jones Store with loyal customers returning at the start of every school year.
She loved her two granddaughters. She never missed a grandparent day, dance recital or other special event. Often hosting Friday night sleepovers, she created special memories filled with popcorn bowls, lightning bugs, dancing to Ozark Mountain music, and neighborhood walks. Her granddaughters adored their “Mama.”
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Patty Davis, her son-in-law, Bill Davis, and her granddaughters and family, Leslie and Matt LaGrange and Jennifer, Jesse and Harper Minor.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64133.
