I was one of the Ascend Hospice social workers for Dorothy and she touched my life with every visit we had together. Our first conversations were filled with her telling me what a wonderful Godly man her husband was and how much her Savior meant to her. She spoke about how much she missed  making homemade bread and baking.  She and I often prayed together for Trevor at her request. I walked out of her room each time with such an admiration of Dorothy’s peaceful presence and her strength. As time went on we were not able to have those conversations due to her shortness of breath but that smile and the twinkle in her eyes never waned.  Wilshire isn’t the same without that precious soul but I am truly thankful she is in the arms of Jesus and with her husband and Trevor. I am forever a changed person because of my visits with Dorothy and I am grateful God allowed our paths to cross. 

Dorothy Louise was certainly a lovely lady.  I remember her good sense of humor, how nice she was, and how supportive both she and Wayne were in the loss of my parents.  My mother, Maxine, was her aunt.  She will be missed by many who love her.

My sweet Great-Grandma Dorothy, 
I can still hear your laugh, I can see the twinkle in your eyes when you smile. While I have an overwhelming feeling of sadness I am also filled with peace knowing you’re up there with your savior, the love of your life, Trevor and many others you love. Living to your fullest ability. You were an angel walking upon us on earth. You touched so many lives with your kindness and love. 
I remember as a small child, my favorite place to go was Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Wayne’s house. Most of my favorite childhood memories were with you guys. When you walk in the door the smell of coffee was always the first thing you smelled. I always knew I’d find grandma in the kitchen when i got to her house and she was usually always baking or cooking something delicious. She made homemade rolls and bread like you’ve never tasted before! You could always find Peanut Butter Balls and prunes in the fridge in the back room at Grandmas. Always full stocked. I remember opening the microwave only to find Grandmas cute little coffee cup waiting to be warmed. I remember Grandma and Grandpas house like the back of my hand. Everything in the spot you’d expect it to be. The creek in the back yard was the first thing us kids would go for after greeting Grandma and Grandpa. Exploring the small bridge and under rocks looking for craw dads, Collecting berries from the bushes for Grandma to make Grandpas pie, using garden tools in their garden and hammering nails that were sticking up on the back deck for fun. Church on Sundays with Grandma was a must! Everyone knew the McGinnis family. I was so proud to tell everyone Dorothy and Wayne McGinnis were my Grandparents at church. 
I remember sitting next to Grandma on her spot on the couch watching her trace little shapes with her finger on the pillow sitting next to her. These are memories i will cherish forever.

My darling, loving, and sweet great-grandma will forever hold a special place in my heart. While her passing brings upon sadness, there is also solace to be found in knowing that she will now be reunited with the love of her life, my great-grandpa Wayne. I find comfort knowing that he was there, waiting for her arrival with a warm smile and open arms. 

I will always cherish the memories of staying at her house and exploring around the back yard where a small creek ran through, always searching for crawdads under rocks with my brother. Mornings in her home would be filled with the sweet sound of grandma's songs and her special mickey mouse pancakes or other baking treats.  She was one of the kindest and most gentle souls who very much loved caring for her family; always worrying about others before herself. Though she was sweet and gentle, she also displayed so much strength throughout her life and her perseverance was always so inspirational and admirable.

Loved by everyone, Dorothy always showered people with her love and joy; there was no one who wasn't a friend to her. She will be so greatly missed by everyone who she held dear to her and her memory will forever live on throughout the countless heart-warming memories she helped create with us all.  It is with great love in our hearts we celebrate and honor the beautiful life of my great-grandmother and wish her nothing but peace and love in this next journey of her life. Living forever in paradise beside her loving husband and also her lord and savior Jesus Christ. 

God Bless Aunt Dorothy or as I used to tease her "your Highness" and all of her wonderful family. To our great regret, we cannot join all of you, in person to pay our deepest respects. Due to the birth of my fourth Great Granddaughter, Leah Grace, on 12-19-2018, I postponed my Christmas celebration, to give the new mother and baby time to be ready to travel, until 1-25- to 1-27-2019 so we could all be together. Our family will all be here to celebrate that most special Holiday. I promise we will celebrate all of you and Aunt Dorothy with so many wonderful memories of our visits to Kansas City. She and Uncle Wayne shared the most delicious home cooked  meals ever. I especially remember Uncle Wayne and I chatting over a huge piece of Gooseberry Pie.....like only Aunt Dorothy could bake.
