Dorothy J. “Dottie” Hedrick, of Lee’s Summit, went to be with the Lord June 16, 2017, after a battle with cancer. Dottie had a strong faith in Jesus and shared it with everyone she met. Dottie was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1939, and later moved to Independence, Missouri. She attended Beaumont Baptist Church, when she met and married Roy Hedrick. They had two sons; Terry and Steve Hedrick. Terry’s wife Diane gave Dottie her one-and-only granddaughter, Amber Siemsen who is married to Scott Siemsen, and they gave Dottie five adopted great grandchildren who called her Grandma Dot. Dottie had worked for the Kansas City Royals in the ticket office and taught Sunday school at New Haven Baptist Church. Dottie has been a familiar ‘greeter’ at Lee’s Summit Community Church for many years. If you were greeted by her she prayed for you, and would reach out to touch or hold your hand. Dottie was known for her famous chocolate chip cookies and giving people cards of encouragement. The list is long of those who have said, “I want to be like Dottie”. There will be a visitation from 5:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, June 21, at Floral Hills. Funeral service will be 10:00am, Thursday, June 22nd, at Floral Hills. Burial will follow. Memorial tributes may be directed to SMA in honor of Brett Wilson at the National Office of Cure SMA, 925 Busses Rd., Elk Grove, Village, IL 60007 or www.curesma.org Arrangements: D.W.
