Doris was born on February 23, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri to Raymond and Rachael Riddle. She was one of four children in the home growing up. She graduated class of 1951 from Northeast High School. After high school she was trained to become a medical lab technician. Upon completion of her studies she began working her first job as a MedTech at Research Hospital.
During that time, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Humphrey. They married August 7, 1954. She changed careers after becoming a mother to her two boys. She was a lunch coordinator and art docent at North Rock Creek. Always a very active member and leader of PTA where her boys attended school. She was an amazing Cub Scout den mother and held the rewarding and supporting role as wife of her husband as Scout Leader. During her transition into the many roles of her life, she continued to be selfless and passionate about helping others. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital, Independence Regional Hospital earning her the Shining Star Volunteer of the year award in 2001, and Fairmount Community Center where she was Volunteer of the Year in 2015, just to name a few. She earned her greatest and most adored title when she became a grandmother. Baking was always her favorite with her grandkids. To know Doris was to know and love her famous pumpkin bread, snickerdoodles, and infectious smile that she never went anywhere without.
