Doris Bumsted, 84, passed away March 10, 2018. Doris was born in Columbia, MO and lived most of her life in the Kansas City area. She was a licensed real estate broker and worked at United Missouri Bank in the operations department before retiring in 1984 as a vice president. She moved from Leawood, KS to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1998 where she resided until returning to Leawood in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Bumsted, her son David Ratterree and sister Sandy Hoelscher. She is survived by sisters Aileen (David) Creed of Fla. and Shelly (Bobby) Smith of Mo.; daughter Vonnie (George) Clarke of Leawood; 4 adult grandchildren: Megan (Darnell) Tunley, George Clarke III, Rebecca (Justin) Urbanowicz and Brooke (Mitch) Lickey; and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held beginning 10 a.m. on March 19, 2018 preceding a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity Catholic Parish, 3800 W. 119th St., Leawood, KS 66209.
Doris will be remembered for her persistence through life’s challenges, for always letting you know what was on her mind, and her fierce love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris will be inurned at the Kahi Maluhia Columbarium in Lahaina, HI to join her late husband Edgar in their most cherished place in the world.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Rita’s Barrier Removal Center, a project of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas; or the Alzheimer's Association Heart of America.
