Donna White passed away October 27, 2022 at Villages of Jackson Creek nursing home in Independence, MO.
She was born August 2, 1932 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to James L. and Helen (Butler) Devitt. She attended Iowa State Teachers’ College (now University of Northern Iowa). In 1952 she married Richard Allen White, also of Oskaloosa. Richard worked for Montgomery Ward for many years during which they lived in Keokuk and Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kearney, Nebraska and finally settled in Independence, Missouri in the early 1960s. Donna was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 2019.
Donna was a homemaker and also worked at Macy’s and Dillard’s at Independence Center for many years. She later volunteered for several years at the gift shop at Truman Medical Center in Lee’s Summit. She and Rich were long time active members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Independence. They were devoted to their family and enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii.
Donna is survived by her daughter Jini Sachse (Peter) and son Richard White Jr (Kelly), and by her four beloved granddaughters Emily Sachse, Sarah Sachse, Olivia White and Mary Emma White.
Services will take place at a later date.
