Donna Lee Nelson

Donna Lee Nelson, age 91, of Raytown, MO, passed away on February 27, 2018. Visitation at 1PM on Saturday, March 3, at Floral Hills Funeral Home with funeral at 2PM. Burial at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Donna was born July 10, 1926, to James and Maude Abraham in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She joined the Cadet Nurse Corp in 1944. She graduated from Kansas City General Hospital and married Francis S. Nelson in 1950. After her three children were grown, Donna returned to the nursing field and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from UMKC’s RN completion program in 1983. She was employed by the City of Independence, Missouri, as a public health nurse.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, her daughter Patty O’Rourke, her parents, and eight siblings. She is survived by her sons John “Sam” Nelson (Linda) and Robert Scott Nelson (Donna Renee); four grandchildren Shea O’Rourke, Zac, Rachel, and Josh Nelson; three great grandchildren Madison, Gage, and Camille Nelson.

Donna was a member of the Blue Ridge Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may e made to the church or City Union Mission.
