Donald Clyde Ward

Don was born on October 8, 1931 in Weir, KS. He married the love of his life, Nadine Louise Blazic on July 1, 1950. As a young man he moved his family to Kansas City in 1953. Don’s work ethic was always admirable. He acquired Miller-Stauch Construction Company with Bill Dean. After years of owning Miller-Stauch he started a company, D. M. Ward Construction Company, with his son Mark.

He was proud to have built many buildings that still remain in Kansas City. The Look Out at Truman Lake was one of his favorites that he built with Bill Dean while owning Miller-Stauch.

Don was a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #119, the Kansas City Consistory #0002 and the Order of Quetzalcoatl. Don was proud to be a member of the Ararat Shrine and its Sand Buggy unit. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters for almost 33 years. His dune buggy years were some of his favorite years in the Shrine.

Don was a great man. He was one of a kind. His integrity stood strong in his beliefs, he had an honesty that didn’t waiver and you knew good or bad where he stood. His word was his bond. His family was his life along with his countless friends. The lake house he built for all of us is a legacy that will always be. He loved to be outdoors. Fishing was a hobby he always loved.

Don was preceded in death by his father Cyde Luther Ward and mother Annis Osborne-Ward. He is survived by his wife Dean; daughters Marcy Klein (Tubey) and Jill Hinrichs (Dan); son Mark Ward (Belinda); grandkids Kipp, Tyler, Craig, Micaela, Jarid, Nick and Spencer; 11 great-grandkids that he adored; sister Jimma Lee Montee; brother-in-laws Bud and Dennis Blazic; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am with Funeral service at 11:00 am Friday, June 2 at Mount Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. A Royal Order of Jesters Rose Ceremony will follow.
