Donald L. Van Buren, age 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at Kansas City Hospice House on October 8, 2010 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born in Monroe County, Missouri, and he attended schools there, as well as Finley Engineering College in Kansas City. He retired from Black and Veatch in 1995 after 37 years of service. Don held supervisory positions in several different departments within the company. He enjoyed his retirement years traveling and days filled with hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Van Buren; daughter Angela Wardin, Overland Park, Kansas; two granddaughters, Melanie Custard (BJ), Overland Park, Kansas and Amy Hey (Matt) of Shawnee, Kansas; five great-granddaughters; sister, Beverly Marlotte, Moberly, Missouri.; and several cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
