Don was born January 13th, 1938. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Westport High School. He took a job with AT&T where he enjoyed a lengthy career. While in his early years at the telephone company he got his draft notice from the army. He then joined the reserves and served 8 years.
Don met the love of his life, Leta Purnell, at the Calhoun Colt Show. They married on June 26th, 1964. Together they enjoyed picnics, boating and camping with friends and family. In 1967 a son, Don Cameron, was born and became the center of their world.
Don enjoyed many fishing trips with “the boys” in Canada. He had a quick wit and an analytical mind. He could work the most difficult Sudoku and crossword puzzles with no problem. He had a love of cars and travel. Don and Leta enjoyed going on cruises, vacationing in Galveston, Texas and visiting family in Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Survivors include his wife, Leta; a son Don (Robin) Scott; grandchildren, Cory, Jordan, Jacob, Jake and Abigail; a brother, Jim (Bobbi) Housey; nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Don in death were his parents and a sister, Colleen (Jim) Spurgeon.
