Visitation will be at 6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131.
Mom was first a caregiver, then a mother of 3, then a registered nurse of over 20 years. Mom was a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Mayor’s Ethnic Commission. Mom was also a member of MANA de K.C. where she received a Leadership Award, and what most would call a community leader. She was also a member of Azteca de K.C. and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pan American Golf Association. She was also a volunteer at the Richard Cabot Clinic where she taught diabetes care in Spanish. Mom was a caring person that welcomed our friends into her home.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Eliseo Rodriguez and Guadalupe Rodriguez, her first husband Joe M. Castro, her youngest son, Robert J. Castro, her sister, Lucila Arriaga. Survivors include daughter and spouse Susan and Mike Souder, son and spouse, John and Julie Castro, brother, Homer Rodriguez, sisters Rose Staley and Leticia Kelley. 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
