Demi was born on July 12, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, where she later attended the University of Illinois – Chicago at Navy Pier. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Demi called her by many names – mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, friend and “the world’s best mother-in-law” to name a few. She was a deeply compassionate, strong-willed, giving and forgiving woman. Demi loved her children fiercely and considered family to be one of the most cherished aspects of her life. A devoted mother, she also pursued a long and successful career with The Jones Store, which later became Macy’s.
Following her retirement, Demi enjoyed traveling to visit family in Kansas, Chicago and Arizona. She expressed her passion for music while attending the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, where she sang in the choir for many years, and was arguably the proudest audience member at her grandchildren’s concerts and performances through the years.
Demi was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Kramos; her parents, James and Maria Photopulos; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Helen Kramos; and her sister-in-law, Georgia. She is survived by her children Greg (Sandi) Kramos, Melanie (Kip) Tyler, and Tina Kramos; her granddaughters, Jordan Tyler and Alex Tyler; her brother, Socrates “Bud” Photopulos; her cousin, Elena (Tony) Poulos; her sister-in-law, Diane (Joe) Kollias; her niece, Kerry (Justin) Pranger; her nephews, Jimmy Photopulos and Andy (Amber) Kollias; and ten great-nieces and nephews.
