Delores Jean Davis, 74, of Kansas City, Missouri, was born to Charles William and Faye Edna Nutter on October 23, 1947. Delores (Dee) was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri as the third of six children. She adored her siblings and treasured each of them throughout her life. She was gently welcomed into heaven on November 30 as she napped peacefully in her bed. Her marriage to Kenneth L. Russell in 1965 created two children: Kenda and Kenneth Jr. Although divorced, Dee and Kenneth remained close friends until her death.
Dee devoted her life to loving and caring for her family and close friends. Her loyalty and sacrifice for the people she loved was the defining aspect of her life. She worked for Devine Lighting as a Light Assembler for 18 years and held various other jobs throughout her life. Her strong work ethic and resourcefulness were a key part of her character. She loved and adored her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friend’s grandchildren. She filled her time and home with the children in her life. Family and friends were her hobbies and the jewels of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her significant other of 25 years, Earl Bradley. She is survived by her three brothers, Charles Jr. (Fran) Nutter, Ron (Sue) Nutter, and Carl Nutter; by two sisters, Peggy (Steve) Young, and Twyla Berg; and her children Kenneth Jr. and Kenda (Brad) Zerbe as well as her grandchildren, Sarhra, Kurt, Bethany, Drew, Lily, and Angel, and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was affectionately known as “MamaDee”. She will be missed especially by her Dear Friend of 50 years, Becky Eaton.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her family and friends. Many lives have been impacted by the sacrifice, commitment and unconditional love of Dee’s legacy left for those she loved and shared her life with.
