Debbie grew up in Springfield, Missouri and was active in the Boulevard Baptist Church. She was baptized and saved at age eight. She was awarded Queen Regent in Service through the Girls Auxiliary mission organization, the organization’s highest honor. Debbie graduated in 1970 from Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Missouri.
She moved to Kansas City in 1970 and started a job at Richards-Gebauer Air Force Base in the Strategic Communications Office, where she met Jerrold Huber. Debbie and Jerrold were married in 1971 and two daughters were born from this union, Delberta Lynne and Sarah Marie.
Debbie worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a paralegal and administrative assistant for over 20 years. While commuting to work from the bus stop on Blue Ridge Boulevard, Debbie befriended several coworkers, including Charles Jacques.
Charles and Debbie were married on June 3, 1993 and they were given 28 happy and wonderful years together. Debbie’s family was the center of her life and she lived to serve others. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren cherish memories of Mimi’s hugs and her Christmas fudge.
Debbie loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed sewing, fishing and traveling and she was an outstanding cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Lillian Robertson.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles Jacques of the home, her daughters, Delberta and Sarah Huber of Raytown, Missouri and Debbie Robinson (Chip) of Chula Vista, California; her grandchildren, Emma and Preston Huber of Raytown, Missouri and Caleb, Joshua and Jadyn Robinson of Chula Vista, California; her sister, Susa Rathbun (Bill) of Bolivar, Missouri; several aunts and uncles and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at The Ridge (Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church) at 5055 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri 64133.
