Debbie was born on June 14, 1952 in Independence, MO, to Robert Grantham, Jr. and Mary Lou Grantham.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at NW Missouri State University, Maryville, MO, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, and a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Wichita State.
Debbie began her career as a Junior High Teacher of students with Learning Disabilities for over 10 years. After going back for more education, Debbie became licensed as Licensed Master's Level Psychologist. Debbie worked as a Therapist for 5 years at Associates in Comprehensive Counseling and was an In Home Family Specialist for DCCCA, Inc. for two years. While working as a therapist, Debbie also worked in billing for Primedia. Debbie ended her career in a job she loved, working as an instructor of Trauma Smart for Crittenton Children's Center, Saint Luke's Hospital.
In the 1970's Debbie volunteered for VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America). In 1988 Debbie traveled to Cilin Province of China to teach English as a second language.
She is survived by sister, Connie (John) Robertson of Lee's Summit, MO, brothers Rick Grantham of Lee's Summit, MO and Randie (Crystal) Grantham of Edmond, OK, three nieces, two nephews, two grand-nieces, four grand-nephews, three great-grand-nieces, and two great-grand-nephews.
She was a member of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 18 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. There will be a Funeral Service at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 19 at the Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:00pm in the High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry, MO. Pallbearers include: Will Grantham, Mitchell Grantham, Drue Robertson, Jacob Robertson, Alex Cereceres and Ryan Conyers.
A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at KU BMT Unit and Cancer Clinic for all the love, support, and great care given Debbie.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Debbie's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and/or International House of Prayer in Kansas City.
