Debra DeAnn Wagner Beaver, 56, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5 in Overland Park, Kan. A successful working mother who immensely enjoyed her family, her friends and her career, Debbie was born Aug. 20, 1955, in Tahlequah, Okla., to John Dee and Patricia Ann Mills. She moved to Kansas with her father and graduated from Bonner Springs High School with the class of 1973.
Following graduation from the University of Kansas in 1977, Debbie pursued a career in in-home health care and continued on that career path throughout her life, most recently as an account manager with Walgreens Infusion Services. She was a member of the Kansas City Regional Home Care Association, a group that works closely with statewide and national associations to advocate for home care patients regarding issues that both benefit and protect them.
A member of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kan. since 2008, Debbie regularly attended services, in addition to volunteering with Matthew’s Ministry, which is the Church of the Resurrection's awareness, outreach and support ministry for persons with special needs and their families.
Debbie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Nancy Etta Mills and Tom and Kathleen Ward. She is survived by her two sons, John Travis (J.T.) and Ross Wagner, her parents, her brother, John Charles Mills and her sisters, Sun Dee Mills Larson and Kay Cee Mills.
A memorial service to celebrate Debbie’s life will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Church of the Resurrection Wesley Chapel , 13720 Roe, Leawood, KS at 2 p.m. All attendees are invited to stay for a reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Debbie’s name may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America or the Rose Brooks Center for domestic violence in Kansas City, Mo.
