Dean E. Anderson, 95, of Raytown, Missouri, passed away January 28, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans' Home in Warrensburg, MO. Visitation is Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at 11:00 AM until funeral service at noon at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 9349 E. 65th St. Raytown, MO 64133.
Dean was born to Rose and Victor Anderson of Cable, WI on July 21st, 1923. He grew up on a family farm on Lake Namakagon and graduated from Cable High School in 1941. On June 12, 1942 Dean enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was called to active duty service in January 1943. Flying 35 missions in a B-24 Liberator, Dean was a bombardier and navigator with the 734th Squadron, 453rd bombardier group of the 2nd division of the 8th Air Force. Dean then served in the Air Force Reserve as a civil engineer assigned to Richards Gebaur Air Force Base where he retired as a Lt. Colonel.
On June 18, 1950, he married Georgia "Ann" Siemens of Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Raytown, MO where they raised their two daughters. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 61.
Dean worked many construction and remodeling jobs throughout the region. One of Dean's proudest accomplishments was the building and upkeep of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Raytown.
He was an active member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church where he served as senior warden, properties chair, and vestry member. Dean received the Bishop's Shield Award for his outstanding contributions to the Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri.
Dean is survived by his daughters; Nancy Anderson of Raytown, MO and Janet Anderson Brown of Lee's Summit, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ann Anderson; sister, Rosamond Lee; and twin brother, Dell Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, 1300 Veterans Road, Warrensburg, MO 64093.
