David Keith Stevens, 53, Prairie Village, KS, passed away unexpectedly December 4, 2014. He was born in Kansas City, MO September 1, 1961, to Leroy and Margie Stevens. After graduating from Raytown South High School in 1979, he went to the University of Missouri-Columbia where he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering.
Upon graduation from MU, David went to work for Black & Veatch where he held several positions, including vice-president of sulfur technology, leaving after 25 years to form his own engineering and technology company. While at Black & Veatch, he developed and implemented new processes for sulfur reclamation, which were granted patents.
David loved the Lord, having accepted Jesus as his savior and serving him in various ways. He will be remembered as a most generous and fun-loving person with a keen sense of humor.
A world-traveler, he also enjoyed reading, listening to music, painting, and riding his bicycle; however, his greatest pleasure came from time spent with his children. He was their staunch supporter and was proud of their many accomplishments.
Survivors include his parents, Leroy and Margie Stevens; children from his marriage to Cathy- son, Michael Stevens, London England; daughter, Melissa Stevens, Denver, CO; brother Don (Christine) Stevens; nieces, Emily and Hanna Stevens, and Courtney Payne; nephews, Ethan and Colin Payne; numerous cousins and many friends who will all miss him dearly.
Memorial service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection-Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224, on Saturday, December 13, at 11a.m. with a visitation at 10 a.m
