David Harold Root

Dave was born January 25, 1943 in Corpus Christie, TX to George and Mildred Root. His parents and a younger brother, Richard Root precedes him in death.

Kansas City was his home growing up and for the majority of his adult life. Dave was a man with many talents and a mentor to many. A competitive spirit and mechanical talent were major factors in his love of racing anything with a motor. He raced for many years winning many trophies to display. Fishing, biking, golf and computer building and repairs became his passions later in life. He strived to excel in all he undertook.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; brother Dan (Glenda) Root; sister Debbie Root (Ron Suptic); sons, Kevin (Amy), Kelly (Holli), Koby (Tricia) Root; 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Jeremy, Bailey, Skylar, Gage, Preston and Ashytnn; 5 nieces; and 2 nephews. Extended family: son Tom (Tammy) McMahan; daughter Julie McNamara (Chad Olson); 4 grandchildren Stefan (Colby), Rachel (Brian), Christopher and Sarah; 2 great grandchildren, Ava and Zoey.

Services will be held Saturday March 4, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131 with military honors. A reception will follow at that location.
