David Henry Martin, 57, from Leawood, Kansas, passed away on October 5, 2023. Visitation will be held at the Church of the Resurrection - Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS, on Thursday October 12, 2023 at 10am, followed by the funeral service at 11am. A reception will be held immediately after the services. Arrangements are by McGilley State Line Chapel.
David was born on October 10, 1965 in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Donna Martin. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School. Following high school he attended Kansas State University where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration. He was a member of Tokai Juku Karate Club where he earned his third degree black belt. He made many lifelong friends at the club including his wife, Michelle. They were married for 26 years. David worked as the president of Baxter Mechanical Contractors. He was a devoted coach for his son’s little league football teams, as well as being on the board of directors for FCCJC. Later he assisted the Johnson County Comets track club. He had lifelong hobbies of grilling, guitar playing and taking care of his dogs. He was a very involved parent, constantly traveling and supporting his kids’ athletics. His pride and joy in life were his three children.
David is preceded in death by his father John Martin. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Martin; kids, Anna, Henry and Lida Martin; siblings John Martin, Sara Jo Martin and Ann Martin Sherlock; and his mother Donna Martin. The Martin family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has reached out during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the KCFC Football League. The David Martin Scholarship Fund will support young football players' registration fees and equipment rental.
