David Andrew Cervantes, Sr., 57 of Kansas City, MO died Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Luke’s South Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Holy Name Catholic Church, 16 S. Iowa, Kansas City, KS. Cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 9:00 am-12:30 pm at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., KCMO.
David was born September 22, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to Antonio and Lorenza (Alvarez) Cervantes. He was a graduate of the Lillis High School, Class of 1978. Providing for his family, David balanced his job at the JC Penney’s Distribution Center for 27 years as forklift operator and team leader and as one of the founding members of Las Estrellas Band playing many gigs over his career, he was up early, worked hard and played harder at night.
David was preceded in death by his mother Lorenza and a brother, Louis Cervantes, Sr. David is survived by his father Antonio; two sons, Nicholas Cervantes (Desirie) and David A. Cervantes, Jr (Katrina); their mother and his lifelong friend, Monica Cervantes; three brothers, Xavier Cervantes, Sr., Daniel Cervantes and Andrew Alvarez; seven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, countless friends and groupies.
