She has two children, Kevin and Karen, who she helped become successful, productive adults. She was actively involved in their lives growing up and was very accepting of their friends. Her house was their meeting place and their friends would often call her for advice or just to talk. She was very easy to talk to and loved hearing the neighborhood scoop.
Darlene loved the lake, going boating, swimming, and teaching her children how to ski. Many great memories were made at her lake house with family and friends.
Darlene loved her cats and dogs and took pride in training them. Her current dogs, Missy and Star, were great companions to her during her retirement. She even had a horse, Lucky, and helped many others at the ranch take care of their horses. However, her greatest joy came from watching her four grandchildren, Cameron, Breana, Brooke, and Blaire who adored their Nana. She was often found on the floor interacting with them and teaching them new things. Recently the roles reversed and her grandchildren taught her how to text, Face Time, and take videos or pictures with her iPhone so she could always stay in touch with them. When Nana was not at their games, recitals, or school events she was always texting them or on Face Time telling each one how much she loved them and hoped they would do their best.
