A resident of Lenexa, Kansas, he had strong ties to the community throughout his life. He grew up in Leawood, Kansas, where he graduated from Blue Valley High School. He went on to The University of Kansas where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law.
Following law school he had a private practice, worked as a Public Defender, joined the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office and he ended his career in the Olathe City Attorney’s office. But he was much more than his education and employment. He loved a good story and a game of cards. He was quiet, reserved, but kind and gentle with family and friends. Curt was an avid reader; he often knew much more than you- but you wouldn’t know it unless you asked a few questions. He found a new challenge in understanding the stock market as he took to investing during his retirement. He was a self-taught chef and he always pitched in for Christmas Eve Celebrations to make every one of these remarkable and memorable.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Don Hoover. He is survived by his brother, Craig Hoover, his sister-in-law Jeanne Hoover, and his nephews Dylan and Tyler Hoover along with his lifelong friends.
“Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.” – David Sedaris
Our memories of him will endure - and if you squint really hard you might see him smiling just over the horizon at sunset. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Friday, February 23, 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home. We will continue the celebration of his life at a reception following the burial at Jess & Jim's Steakhouse, 517 East 135th Street, Kansas City, MO.
