Cullen Paul Keough, 83, passed away June 26, 2010. A visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Curé of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, and a reception will follow the funeral mass at the Forum of Overland Park. A private burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Cullen was born February 26, 1927, in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He moved to New York City in 1939. He attended Columbia College, New York, NY for two years before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was stationed on a minesweeper in San Francisco Bay. He returned to finish at Columbia College, graduating in 1948. He was President of WKCR, the Columbia radio station.
He met his wife, Ellen Kiley Keough, in New York, and then was transferred to Chicago. He moved to Kansas City in 1972, when he was appointed Regional Administrator of the Labor Management Services Administration, a role he served until he retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Curé of Ars Catholic Church and the Columbia Club of New York. He was also a member of the Society of Fellows at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, a member of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and a longtime supporter of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth K. Redler and her husband Scott of Wichita, Kansas; Victoria Keough and her husband Nicholas Jazgunovich of New York, New York; and Margaret A. Keough of Westwood, Kansas; and his granddaughters Katherine and Kelly Redler.
